WOW!!!!!
How did the first month get by me without adding some pictures of what is happening in third grade for the 2013-2014 school year.
It has been a very busy month. We have covered a lot of material, but one of the most important things we are working on is classroom expectations. Knowing what is expected of each student and doing it at all times.
We are going to have a great year!

The kids all had the opportunity to take a picture with one of the boarder markers.

We went to see the ND/ SD boarder markers today. The kids all got a kick out of standing in South Dakota and North Dakota at the same time. There are five markers still standing along the land my brother and his wife farm.

Everyone trying out a desk in a one-room school.

Third grade took a field trip today to the Eureka Pioneer Museum in Eureka, SD. The museum has many amazing items to see including lots of antique tractors that the kids were allowed to sit on.

Third grade toured the Security State Bank today, April 18. The kids learned a lot about what goes on in a bank. Some of the things they learned about are: insurance, loans, the coin sorter and counter, what a vault looks like and safety deposit boxes. They really enjoyed themselves. Thank you to the people at the bank for taking the time out of their day to teach us something new!

Reading Month Finale!
They kids in grades 3-6 played lots of basketball. After running off lots of energy  they were treated to ice cream sundaes with lots of toppings to choose from.

The kids made "paperbag books" today in school. They did a great job! The paperbags were folded in half and bound together. A ribbon was attached to tagboard that was cut to fit inside the bags. The kids will write a story on the tagboard pieces and draw pictures on the pages of the bags.
Yea! for reading month!!

Keep North Dakota Clean
Third grade took part in the "Keep North Dakota Clean" contest recently. The statewide theme for third grade is "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle." The kids all did a fantastic job on their posters and really took their time to be very neat. I am very proud of their hard work.
Caylee Walth is our first place winner, Lauren Fandrich won second place and Savanna Bader won third place.
Caylee's poster will be sent to the state level for judging with all the local winners in the state.
GOOD LUCK Caylee!!!!
